Anne Nicolas has announced the availability of the first alpha release of Mandriva Linux 2010.1: "The Mandriva team is proud to announce the first alpha release of 2010.1. Many improvements and new functionalities are planned for this new version - your desktop will be smart and connected. You will also find easy home encryption so that your personal data are secure wherever you are. Also planned is work on our tools to manage software installation and updates to give more useful information and help user to choose the best software. Desktop environments are also part of our main focus. Finally, work is also in progress to add cloud functionalities in your favorite desktop."
